Frequently asked
questions.
The app, your crosshairs, and everything in between.
How will this help?
Crosshair Y gives you a consistent aiming reference with a shape, size, and color that feel comfortable to you. It helps you make that reference your own; it does not aim for you or change weapon accuracy.
Is Crosshair Y safe? Is it a virus?
Crosshair Y draws a separate Windows overlay and does not inject code into your game. Current builds are unsigned, so Windows may show an unrecognized-app warning. That warning alone does not tell you whether a file is safe. Use the official download and check the file with your security software.
Will it work with every game?
The desktop overlay is intended for windowed and borderless games. Exclusive fullscreen can hide it, so try borderless mode if the crosshair disappears. Compatibility depends on the game; universal anti-cheat approval is not claimed. Check your game's official overlay guidance before using it.
How do I use a crosshair from the collection?
Click Copy code on a design you like. Open My Crosshairs in the Crosshair Y app, choose Import code, and paste it. You can then edit your imported copy in the app.
Can I customize a crosshair on the website?
Customization happens in the desktop app. The website is for browsing, previewing, copying codes, and sharing designs you have already created in Crosshair Y.
How do I share my own crosshair?
Right-click a crosshair in My Crosshairs in the app and choose Copy crosshair code. On the website, choose Publish a crosshair, paste the code, load its preview, and add your listing details. Submissions are reviewed before appearing publicly. Sign in and check My submissions to see their status.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
You do not need an account to use the desktop editor or overlay, and both work offline. Browsing and copying public designs do not require an account. Sign in to upload crosshairs and track submissions. Website sharing and checking for new versions need an internet connection.
What information does the app share?
Usage reporting, crosshair sharing, and PC/hardware details have separate controls in Settings. You can turn each one off. Turning sharing off stops future uploads; it does not automatically remove records already shared.
Is Crosshair Y made with AI?
Yes. Crosshair Y is entirely vibe-coded with AI, and we won’t hide that from our users. Using the app is your choice. Whether you support AI-assisted development or prefer not to use AI-made software, we respect your decision.
